Re: “Cruel and Unusual

I was a maintenance, and labor worker inmate. Over 7 years ago, The private contractor providing medical services to ISCI, (CMS Correctional Medical Services) had lost the contract. The new provider (PHS Prison Health Services) was taking over the Medical facility. I was assigned with another inmate, to assist CMS personnel in removing, and packing equipment, records etc. One CMS Paramedic was frantically trying to gain access to a records closet. (He no longer had keys) No one would open it for him, and he left that day looking very scared and worried. The following day My helper and I were sent into the closet to pack up records. while doing this, we found package after package, after package, of schedule 1 -2 narcotic pain killers hidden in the bottoms of each record box. The reason we did not receive the pain meds we needed was because they were stealing and concealing these narcotics. Shameful Situation.

Re: “Cruel and Unusual

Again, I was the ex cop in prison. I had a severe sciatica injury, and was in UNBEARABLE PAIN. There was a very good Physician Assistant (Same as a Dr.), who gave me the only pain killer that would work. (Morphine). He also sent me to town, for physical therapy, which I desperately needed, I also needed back surgery. The P.A. had scheduled everything. One day I went to see him. He seemed distant, withdrawn, and angry. I asked him "What's wrong?" He replied "They cancelled all the procedures I scheduled for you, and they stopped your pain meds. You will now get TYLENOL", The following day, he quit the prison, and never came back. He did write me a letter saying he would give me a statement, if I sued. I never did. No money to pursue it. THIS WAS WRONG

Re: “Cruel and Unusual

I was a police officer for over 20 yrs. I made a huge mistake, and was convicted of assault and battery. I got 10 years. I stayed in general population, (NOT PROTECTIVE CUSTODY) A difficult thing to do. I was fighting fire on a fire crew. A chain saw kicked back on me and broke my dental crown. I tried for nearly two years to get my tooth fixed.
Every time I was about to get it fixed, they would transfer me to another facility, and "records were lost". Finally, after filing a law suit, the warden with CCA (Private Prison) approved my treatment. TWO YEARS? Crazy, and wrong.
