The inside view from the subterranean level of the Idaho Power Headquarters in downtown Boise is startling: The front end of a city bus is dangling from above.

A ValleyRide bus driver said his brakes failed at approximately 6:30 a.m. as he was turning a corner at Main and 13th streets. That's when the bus, carrying 10 passengers, crashed into several parked cars, over the curb and into light poles and trees before smashing into the Idaho Power building and damaging a support beam.

The bus crashed into the building in the area just over an underground loading area.

Boise Police tweeted out a photograph of the accident scene, showing the bus hanging over the loading area.

The bus was running ValleyRide's No. 4 route, which travels a loop between downtown Boise and the Boise Bench.

One passenger, who had a pre-existing condition, was taken to an area hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Crews from the Boise Police and Fire departments, the Boise Department of Public Works and Idaho Power were all on the scene through the morning hours. An investigation into the incident continues.
