Re: “911 in Our town

I have been a nurse in the ER at Al's for the last year. Although I cannot speak for what was going on 2 years ago, I can assure you that the trauma team has it together. It is frustrating to read such a one sided story about our local trauma center. Idaho is a largely rural area and doesn't see the "business" that a metropolitan trauma center would. I come from an ER major metropolitan city of 2.5 million people. As for quality of care...I encourage research as to a typical day in Al's ER to determine that. We pull resources from the entire hospital when we know a trauma is coming in as to maintain the continuity of care for the other patients in the department. There is no seperate "trauma team" in the ER who waits around for the action. It is the nurses and ED physicians who juggle it all, sometimes without break in our 12 hour shift. We get called in on our days off with our families to help serve this community and to save lives. How about a follow up and reality check as to what is really going on in your local trauma center that services not only Idaho, but parts of Oregon. This article read one-sided and did little in support of our Boise community.
