In post World War II Denmark, a series of hypnosis-related crimes plagued the country already reeling from Nazi occupation just a few years earlier.

A film chronicling these crimes, Murderous Trance, is set to premiere in at Caldwell’s Luxe Reel Theater Friday, Nov. 1.

Finnish director Arto Halonen created the psychological thriller starring Josh Lucas of A Beautiful Mind, and Pilou Asbaek, best known for his role in Game of Thrones. The film explores people hypnotized into committing murder, and according to a release about the film, raises as many questions as it answers.

Asbaek plays Anders Olsen, a Copenhagen-based detective, who follows the crimes as they are committed on the streets of the beautiful Danish city.

“Murderous Trance brings together top screen talent in a taut, true crime thriller that will have audiences on the edge of their seats,” Bruce Eisen, head of content acquisition for myCinema, wrote in the release. “We are thrilled to share the film with American moviegoers.”
