For Ghost in Boise, Theatricality is Key

Swedish rock star Tobias Forge never breaks character on stage. In person, Forge is mellow and relaxed, but as Cardinal Copia, a sacrilegious riff on Catholic imagery, he is electric.

While pyrotechnics, elaborate costumes and ludicrous performances can often detract from a band's actual music, it only amplifies Ghost. The band performed for nearly an hour and a half with few breaks when it played in Boise on Sept. 27. Even the five costume changes Forge completed were done in the blink of an eye.

Ghost performed songs from its most recent album, Prequelle, as well as some of its older work, which is notably heavier and more metal-influenced than its more recent works, which are significantly more pop-driven.

After its performance in Boise, Ghost will continue to tour across the country and embark on a European tour with Nashville-based group All Them Witches.
