Four Idaho Accidents, Four Fatalities

Four separate accidents, three in eastern Idaho and another in the state's panhandle, claimed four lives over the weekend.

A Pocatello woman is behind bars, charged with vehicular manslaughter, after Idaho State Police said she was responsible for a head-on crash, killing a motorcyclist in the early morning hours of May 29. 29-year-old Joanne Christofferson was treated at a nearby hospital, but when she was discharged, police arrested her, adding that their investigation was not over. 44-year-old Staci Shyrock of Pocatello, who was riding the motorcycle, was dead at the scene.

ISP said two other traffic accidents in southeast Idaho on May 30 claimed two more lives: 27-year-old Irving Escalante of Armona, Calif., died in a one-vehicle crash near Blackfoot, and 29-year-old Jamie Gallegos of Aberdeen was killed, also near Blackfoot, when his vehicle collided with another car.

In the Kootenai County community of Hayden, a three-car collision on Highway 95 claimed the life of a Coeur d'Alene man. ISP say 42-year-old Gary Dixon of Post Falls was driving a 2007 Chevy Suburban northbound on Hwy 95 when he ran a red light and struck a westbound vehicle and then spun out of control, hitting a third vehicle. Dixon was uninjured, but the driver of the second vehicle, 37-year-old Jeffrey Krik of Coeur d'Alene, died from his injuries a short time later a local hospital.
