George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic

Treefort Main Stage, Friday, March 23

With more than 400 musical acts to choose from at Treefort 2018, it's hard to know where to turn first for for top-drawer tunes. If funk is your jam though, you're in luck—look no further than George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. If Clinton's career were a book, each chapter would be headed with a different band name. Clinton formed his first doo wop group, The Parliaments, in the 1950s, and since then, the name has changed with the jazz-infused R&B sound: Funkadelic in the '60s, Parliament in the '70s, P-Funk All Stars in the '80s and, finally, Parliament Funkadelic in the '90s, which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Off stage, music from the Grammy- and Dove-winning father of modern funk has appeared in Apple and Nike ads and on the soundtracks of more than 150 movies and TV shows, including recent hits like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Pitch Perfect 3. Clinton is truly a man for the ages.
