Much of the United States has not only given up on its dream for a snowy Christmas, they're facing the "warmest Christmas in living memory," according to the Weather Channel.

Meteorologists are pointing to something they're calling a "blowtorch" weather pattern in the East and Midwest, prompting Christmas forecast highs in the 60s in Cincinnati; New York City; Pittsburgh; Washington, D.C.; and down the Eastern Seaboard. Atlanta is expected to hit the mid 70s on Christmas Day.

According to the Weather Channel, "widespread unseasonable warmth will return for much of Christmas week in most areas east of the Rockies."

With December halfway finished, nearly 2,000 daily record high temperatures have either been tied or broken across the lower 48 states.

As for Boise, there's a pretty good chance for a white Christmas, as snow will return to the region on Monday, Dec. 21-Wednesday, Dec. 23. Christmas Day highs are expected to be in the upper 20s.
