Hip-Hop Back to School Show

A triad of hip-hop groups team up at The Reef for a funkalicious Back 2 Skool party. Eleven, Fresh Espresso and Kamphire Collective, paired with all night drink specials, are guaranteed to soak away the doldrums of the new semester.

Eleven, a collaboration between David Maxwell and DJ Noah Hyde, is a Boise-based hip-hop group matching back-scratching beats with innovative lyrics. Also from Boise, recently reformed Kamphire Collective is a five-member band who had a following before they even had an album. And now they have both.

Sharing the Reef's main stage will be Seattle's duo, Fresh Espresso, comprised of Rik Rude and P Smoov. The pair mixes frantic electronica and clipped classics with slick rhymes. Of particular note: "Vader of the Rap Game," an update of Styx's "Mr. Roboto." So rub elbows with local musicians. Cover's a fiver.

Friday, Sept. 4, 9:30 p.m., $5, The Reef, 105 S. Sixth St., Boise, 208-287-9200.
