Holiday Festivities in Meridian

The first Saturday of the month will be bustling with festive cheer as Meridian celebrates another holiday season. The Meridian Symphony Orchestra will provide the finale for the city’s holiday celebration, following the Winterland Parade and the Meridian Street Fair.

Participants will sit in jubilant rapture as the orchestra plays a multitude of seasonal jams, from “Twas the Night Before Christmas” to “Winter” from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. No Christmas celebration would be complete without a visit from a certain bushy-bearded butterball (think North Pole, not Michael Moore), so expect an appearance from the jolly man in red. The MSO is currently celebrating its 20th year of bringing music to the masses, continuing their focus on family friendly entertainment and the advancement of arts appreciation.

Such an array of festivities leaves no excuse for being a Scrooge, so quit hum-bugging and head out to Meridian for a full day and night of yuletide merriment.

Saturday, Dec. 5, 7:30 p.m., $5 students/seniors, $7 adults, $18 family, Meridian Middle School auditorium, 1507 W. Eighth St., Meridian, 208-891-2721, meridiansymphony.org.
