I HAVE PHOTOS TO PROVE I SAW SASQUATCH

I have just returned from the 2006 Sasquatch Festival at the Gorge in Washington. This three-day festival included headliners Nine Inch Nails, Ben Harper and Beck, and a multitude of bands in between like Arctic Monkeys, We Are Scientists, Neko Case and Brett Dennen. It was hot, it was cold, it was expensive, it was crowded, it was exhausting, and it was worth every minute. Check the Noise feature next week for a review and our Web site at www.boiseweekly com for pictures. If you went, too, I'd love to see your photos. E-mail them to me at music@boiseweekly.com.

LOCAL MUSIC SCENE IS NEWSWORTHY ... DUH

Never you mind that BW has an entire section devoted to local music each week. Disregard the local musicians who play gig after gig. And completely forget the annual Gene Harris Jazz Festival, Alive After Five and, say, the recent three-day Boise Weekly local music festival because according to Fox 12's cutting-edge reporting, "Boise has it's own music scene that's thriving thanks to shows like American Idol." Feh. In a report dated May 24, channel 12 delivered the shocking news to viewers that Boise does in fact have a music scene. Looks like we're just way ahead of our time.

DANCES WITH BUILT TO SPILL

On June 3, Built to Spill, Travis Ward and the Junkyard Bandstand and Bales of Hey hold a benefit concert at the Big Easy for the Buffalo Field Campaign and Tatanka 2006. Year after year, hundreds of buffalo in Yellowstone, Montana are killed and the BFC just wants to make sure there's a home where the buffalo roam in the millions again. The show starts at 8 p .m. and tickets are only $15.
