Nonprofits across the Gem State brought home the bacon May 5 during the fourth-annual Idaho Gives.

"Idahoans rose to the occasion yet again yesterday, raising not only a meaningful amount of money for so many organizations but also raising the profile overall of the nonprofit sector," said Idaho Nonprofit Center Executive Director Amy Little in a press release.

This year, more than 7,500 donors made more than 13,000 individual donations to more than 800 nonprofits totaling $1.05 million—just shy of the nearly $1.08 million Idahoans donated in 2015. In addition, $57,500 were awarded to participating nonprofits by event sponsors including Idaho Central Credit Union, PacificSource Health Plans and Idaho National Laboratory.

Event organizers say they plan to hold a fifth Idaho Gives in 2017.
