Idaho Lawmaker Makes National Headlines With Comparison of Obamacare to Holocaust

"Much like the Jews boarding the trains to concentration camps, private insurers are used by the feds to put the system in place because the federal government has no way to set up the exchange."

It was bound to go viral.

Newspapers around the nation are printing the story this morning, first reported Wednesday by the Spokesman-Review's Betsy Russell, that an Idaho legislator likens Obamacare to the Holocaust.

In an email obtained by the Spokesman-Review, Cottonwood Republican Sen. Sheryl Nuxoll made the analogy in emails and tweets to her constituents. She wrote:

"The insurance companies are creating their own tombs. Much like the Jews boarding the trains to concentration camps, private insurers are used by the feds to put the system in place because the federal government has no way to set up the exchange. Several years from now, the federal government will want nothing to do with private insurance companies. The feds will have a national system of health insurance and they will pull the trigger on the insurance companies.”

When asked to further explain her email, Nuxoll didn't backpedal. “I just want people to hear the truth and to be aware that what is being presented before us is a socialistic program,” Nuxoll told the Spokesman-Review “There is no disrespect for any group or people with the analogy. … I just want people to know the truth.”
