Josh White and Janelle Gilson will talk about their experiences as one of 15 teacher-student teams from the nation who participated in the Normandy: Sacrifice for Freedom Albert H. Small Student and Teacher Institute in June 2016, which was facilitated by the National History Day organization. The purpose of the Normandy Institute is to educate students and teachers about the sacrifices made by Americans who fought in World War II. Janelle and Josh chose to honor Ray O. Coffey by researching his life and learning about WWII, and in particular the Battle of Normandy in 1944.
