Infradig: Ecstatic Everywhere

Despite a lack of publicity, Infradig ranks among some of the top bands of their genre. Their music is marked by a psychedelic blend of intense fusion-rock jams that are manipulated in a variety of forms through cyclic rhythmic and melodic fragments. This musical kaleidoscope also employs shades of underground funk shrouded by synthesized jazz to conceive their unique sound.

The band hails from Chattanooga, Tenn., and is a staple in that region's music scene. Although their attention at a national level has been limited, they've played some of the larger music festivals around, including Bonnaroo. Despite the electrifying talent flowing through the band's veins, Infradig's eight-year existence has been accompanied by a constant struggle for publicity, which has led the band to throw in the towel. Ecstatic Everywhere, released in late 2007, is their farewell album.

For someone introducing themselves to Infradig's music, Clinical Indifference/Psychology of Breathing (2006) and Kinetic Transfer (2003) may be better selections. These records parade the band's talent in sensitive musical interplay while Ecstatic Everywhere abandons some of the band's eerie, dark harmonies. Ecstatic Everywhere is also more processed and some tracks carry more of a dance music sound than previous albums. Nevertheless, the record is still littered with plenty of the same sparkling nuances that mark Infradig's "electro-funk" music.
