Iron Chef - Concoctions- Grilling Goddesses - Donnie Mac's Grand Opening

This week's news of Füd in brief:

• If you missed the showdown between SixOneSix's Chef Jered Couch and Westside Drive-In's Chef Lou Aaron, the panel voted Chef Couch's kobe beef creations the top dog. Stay tuned for the next installment of "Iron Chef Boise" on October 16, in which a challenger will attempt to take down champ Couch.

• "Concoctions," the semi-weekly column by BW's own caped crusader, martini judge, and roving artistic and editorial contributor Bingo Barnes, is now available on our Web site. Check it out when you're thirsty for enough alcohol-related tips, tricks and picks to put you well over the legal limit.

• If you're hard-up for a BBQ grill, ignore the overt sexist tone of the National Pork Board's search for the five women they intend to dub "America's Grilling Goddesses." In 25 or fewer words, entrants are supposed to explain why they are the "ultimate grill gal," proving that "the passion for grilling is growing among women" and that grilling is "no longer a 'men's only club.'" One winner each month this summer receives a Weber gas grill and accessories. Visit www.theotherwhitemeat.com for contest rules and an application.

• Donnie Mac's Trailer Park Cuisine hosts its grand opening Saturday, May 27, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and running all day long with live music, a bike raffle and food specials. 1515 W. Grove St., 338-7813
