Re: “UPDATE WITH VIDEO: Former Legislator, Add the Words Protesters Arrested at Idaho Statehouse

How many of you have ever tried to get ANY kind of bill passed? It is extremely difficult no matter what topic it is. The Idaho State Legislature only meets for 3 months each year because they are a citizens legislature. These are hard working Idahoans who leave their homes for 3 months to help regulate Idaho according to the ideals of the people who voted them in to office. They have a lot to do and many constituents to consider. Protesting doesn't help to get the job done, let's face it. The Senators and House Representatives are most likely trying to follow what they believe the majority of their constituents want. You have to work the ground amongst the people, not protest in Boise. I totally believe in respecting and protecting everyone, but I am guessing that conservative Idaho citizens who make up a majority of the state population is probably concerned about preserving the institution of marriage between a man and a woman. You can call me a bigot, that's fine. My philosophy is to teach the people in our communities to be loving and kind, then we don't have to make millions of laws to try to keep them in line. Attend some Legislative Committee meetings if you have never had the chance. It is a great experience.
