Re: “When Immigration Politics and Faith Collide

Quoting out of the Bible is fine if what is said is supported by a text that can be verified. One verse is often not enough.

As for what is happening now, it is blown out of proportion. The idea is for a 120 day stay on bringing refugees while the new administration seeks better vetting. I am not sure that security vetting is even possible. But he new administration needs to see where the existing effort has been lacking and seek to do better. That is not an unreasonable request. Since fewer than half the Countries which contain large populations of Muslims are on the list, I do not see anything racist about it. It is common sense.

Re: “U of I Students Work on Designs for Homeless Housing

Oh good. More housing for the poor can be immediately filled with refugees while locals are again left out.

Re: “Anti-Vaxx to the Max

I have to agree with the posts here. I remember polio and other kiddie diseases of the past. Avoiding vaccines is absolutely foolish.

Re: “UPDATE: Christian Group Cries Foul When Boise State Student Newspaper Says 'No' to Ad For Creationism Event

Both sides in this issue need to wake up to reality. The Bible and science are not adversaries.

Re: “No Compromise

Maybe someday Idaho will join the real world. Solar and wind power have technologically advanced in the last three years and are now competitive with coal and natural gas. But I don't think they beat water power yet. I suspect that is the issue.

Re: “'Is Pengilly's Still Open?' Marathon City Council Session on St. Luke's Plan Wraps With No Deliberation

Those of us at Bannock Arms on East Bannock Street dread this project as it now stands. We have insufficient parking and it will get worse, during construction and afterward. We have 20 parking spaces in our parking lot due to a "variance" granted in 1978 when Bannock Arms was built. St. Lukes gets another one.
Add to that the loss of our ability to see the foothills and the increase likelihood of vandalism and robbery due to the loss of the now open view to Jefferson, we can expect more danger. We are fearful of the outcome of this project as it now stands.
Traffic on Ave. B will increase with more activity at the hospital, leaving us with a far greater danger of crossing Ave. B with no signalized crossing. But Ave. B has too little vehicle storage in either direction to permit a mid block signal. St. Lukes used to provided van service for close medical appointments and for those of us who need to get to the VA. But they quit claiming they could not afford it. But spending $40 million for this project is affordable for them. That does not compute.

Re: “The Boys of Boise: 60 Years Later

I well remember the Boys of Boise. What a digusting thing that was - and still is.
