Re: “String of Cyclist, Pedestrian Accidents Claims Another Life

Jessica, If there is a bike-light law, it is not being enforced at all. I have never heard a single reference to that law the many times I interact with people and the police. While I can remember a dozen conversations with people getting public intoxication tickets while walking down the street drunk at 3 am. Of course bike accidents also happen during the day, you don't have to interpret my comment in such absolutist terms and/ or interpret it as lacking sympathy for the victims (?wtf??).
My experience and comment is related to driving in the city at night 40 hours a week going on 7 years.
The most important thing for night bikers to understand is, a light enables me to see a biker in my peripheral(sp?) vision when they are invisible otherwise

Re: “String of Cyclist, Pedestrian Accidents Claims Another Life

BIKERS----> I have been driving a cab for 6 years in Boise on the night shift.
Dozens upon dozens of times I have a near miss with bikers... is it coincidence that every single time the bike DID NOT have any lights? If you are a biker at night and do not have lights, I CANNOT SEE YOU until I am so close I only have a few seconds to respond.. If you spent $5 on a light, I can see you a quarter mile away, giving me a lot more than 2 seconds to get out of the way

City of Boise could you PLEASE HELP and require lights.
