Judge Orders Meridian Couple to File Delinquent Tax Returns by Week's End

An Idaho judge has ordered a Meridian couple to file three years of delinquent Idaho income tax returns by the end of this week.

The Idaho State Tax Commission confirmed Tuesday that Craig and Jennifer Hoyt had income of at least $41,370 in 2011; $61,591 in 2012; and $67,709 in 2013; yet had not filed returns for those years. Idaho Deputy Attorney General Nathan Nielson represented the Tax Commission in the prosecution against the Hoyts.

Fourth District Court Judge Steven Hippler ordered the returns be filed by Friday, May 13.

“In fairness to the majority of taxpayers who file tax returns voluntarily, it’s our job to follow up with those who don’t file," said Tax Commission Chairman Ken Roberts in a prepared statement.
