Re: “No Compromise

How can anyone assume that power rates are going down significantly? No, this change does not protect rate payers significantly. It does make investment in alternate energy very iffy--what if Idaho Power prefers to build a coal-powered plant instead and simply does not renew contracts at any price?

Re: “Away, Away, Away Down South in Idaho

Although the debate is in general about the Confederate flag, the specific objections are to governments use of the flag. If you want it on your pickup to make a statement, that's one thing. If you want it flying over the statehouse, that is another thing entirely. Yes, individuals have freedom of expressions. Governments are to represent their people.

Re: “Levi Cavener

Kids in charter schools are being denied the opportunity to know a variety of minority students. They can learn prejudices without any personal experience to balance them. It's not fair to them and not good for the country.

Re: “Thousands of Ada County Citizens Told Their Voter Registrations Were Invalid

Fortunately, Idaho has same-day registration so people can actually show up at the polls and provide identification and vote. We know that Lawerence Denney will do away with that if he is elected. Then Republicans will actually decide who gets to vote.

Re: “Give Me a Break

I don't know if people were aware that this is one of the benefits that teachers lost under the Luna Laws. Many of the continuing contracts the law threw out guaranteed teachers a 20-minute duty-free lunch. A lot of teachers actually worked through this time just trying to get ready for afternoon classes, but at least they didn't have to supervise students. (The Middleton School District refused to define the school day at all--teachers could be held in meetings or required to supervise activities without any limits.)
