Karen Bubb

Encaustic, which literally means “to burn in,” is an addictive medium. The scent of beeswax, the richness of color and the material’s malleability attract and entertain me for hours. In February 2007, I completed a series of over 250 encaustic paintings about my journey to China—portraits of artists, street scenes and homages to treasured Chinese trinkets.
