Kelly Beach

Oil, Graphite, Pen & Ink

The beauty of nature always amazes me, especially voluminous mountains and majestic animals such as horses. The challenge is ever-present to capture the essence of this three-dimensional beauty onto a two-dimensional plane using paint, ink or graphite. Fulfillment comes with the completion of a drawing that bears the likeness of the model, ink cross-hatching that displays exquisite detail of a horse or a painting that successfully transports the viewer to a place he has never been. Art one enjoys is pleasing to the eye and nurturing to the soul, but it doesn’t have to be limited to a small work in a frame. As my artistic voice continues to evolve, so too does the space it inhabits, such as murals painted anywhere from a child’s bedroom to the side of a barn. My favorite way to create art is “en plein air,” where my office is outdoors and I capture the view in a day’s work. For me, the beauty of art can be found almost anywhere.
