A Meridian woman is behind bars, charged with setting the July 15 Mile Marker 21 wildfire that scorched approximately 700 acres near Lucky Peak Reservoir. Sara Schaeffer, 37, of Meridian, is charged with a felony count of arson and two additional counts of failure to appear in court on previous charges.

Prosecutors said Schaeffer used a lighter and spray paint can to ignite the fire that swept along public and private land near the reservoir and along Idaho State Highway 21 in Boise County. Due to Boise County not having a jail, Schaeffer was booked into Ada County Jail. She's being held on a $100,000 bond, pending a Monday, July 30, preliminary hearing.

Several agencies battled the wildfire, including rural fire departments and crews from the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management
