Mountain Home Country Music Festival

Friday, July 31-Sunday, Aug. 2

Mountain music comes home.

Mountain music comes home.

Elmore County will play host to some of country music’s biggest stars—and one guy on his way to joining their ranks. Before Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton and Florida Georgia Line go on stage during the inaugural Mountain Home Country Music Festival, Nashville-based DJ KO will warm up what may turn out to be record-breaking crowds with his unique style.

The DJ/producer grew up in Atlanta, Ga., and got his start making hip-hop mix CDs for friends before finding a somewhat unexplored niche. When he isn’t producing platinum-selling tracks like “Dirt Road Anthem” (originally performed by Brantley Gilbert and Colt Ford and re-recorded by Jason Aldean), 34-year-old KO (aka Justin Spillner) re-mixes classic country tunes, giving them a fresh new sound while honoring the original.

“After working with guys like Colt Ford [co-writer of ‘Dirt Road Anthem’], I recognized the high level of talent in country music,” KO told Boise Weekly. “I wanted to work with that caliber of talent.”

Along with opening for the festival headliners, KO will DJ in the Kickers After Hours Tent each night at 11 p.m.
