Re: “Take a Village

She left her kids alone? All 6 of them ? Even the baby that was still nursing ? Really ? I think that warrants the agency established to keep kids safe to take some action! I'm pretty sure that the terminating of her parental rights was the right thing to do, and it is too bad really as we try to imagine all the time and money spent (wasted) because she could not be a good parent. Let alone all the emotional turmoil/suffering going on by all involved. Wow, she probably had several opportunities to prove herself (don't you think?) to be a good parent and couldn't cut it. But really, no matter what your background - if you leave your young children to fend for themselves, again, young children that do not deserve to be left alone or neglected and you place them in jeopardy - then you yourself are tossing your parental rights to the wind. Leaving your children alone, or neglecting them to the point that Big Brother steps is a self inflicted injury . . .Motherly intuition leads you to NOT leave your kids alone or to neglect them !

I'm a bit disappointed too after reading this story - as I had to read thru the story with only one eye open, as was written. Too bad we couldn't know more about why the children were removed in the first place (too horrible too tell ? would validate the termination of parental rights - therefore would not make a good story?) - because that's what the true story is about, not the pity party afterward.
