Re: “Ballet Idaho Delivers Uneven Performance

How insulting and naive of you to think that our artists will only improve with your calling out of them. As if they haven't already devoted their ENTIRE lives to this art form from childhood. Dancers chose this profession at an early age. They move away from their families, forego school, relationships and money all for this art form-for their audiences. They spend day in and day out looking at themselves in the mirror, always trying to be better. They perform at a top athletic level but often don't even have basic necessities like health care. They dance in pain because their careers are short and you can't miss a moment. LIttle do you know that they face their own toughest judges, themselves everyday. Your "fledgling arts community" and Ballet Idaho represents dancers from all states. They have all moved here and now call Boise home...only to hear these kind of cruel remarks. Opinions were made to be had, but personal attack without proper knowledge is not really kosher. Dancing is not like an I-Phone app. It involves preparation and CONSISTENT (NOT 6 MONTH) training of the body; something that Ballet Idaho does not have a financial budget for yet.

With all that being said, yes, Ballet Idaho still should be judged by these very high standards for classical ballet. Let's take a look at the person doing the judging though. Someone with absolutely NO dance background? You have no right to call a spade a spade when you don't even really know anything about cards.
