Need Studs

Studded snow tires became legal for the season as of October 1. Even though the Idaho Department of Transportation has given residents the legal OK to swap out their regular tires, it is advising that drivers refrain from using tires until weather conditions require them, as the metal cleats embedded into tire tread cause unnecessary wear on the roads. It's legal to have studded snow tires on your car until April 30 in Idaho, but if you're traveling out of state, be sure to follow neighboring states' studded tire laws.

Montana: October 1-May 31

Nevada: October 1-April 30

Utah: October 15-April 15

Oregon: November 1-April 1

Washington: November 1-March 31

Wyoming: Legal all year
