Ninth annual Festival of India

When: Thu., Aug. 13, 6:45 p.m. 2009
www.boisetemple.org
The public is invited to check out the Boise Hare Krishna temple during the Festival of India. Enjoy the 108 vegetarian dishes that make up the complementary grand dinner and sounds of sitar and mridanga drums that keep the energy upbeat. Watch India dance and drama performances and the children as they drape themselves in traditional Indian clothes such as saris and dhotis and adorn their shiny faces with paint. Another big draw is the age-old custom of decorating the altar with the House of 10,000 Flowers. Members spend hours stringing flower garlands in all shapes, sizes and colors.
