  • Reps. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho) and Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) joined the majority of their U.S. House Republican colleagues to pass their version of a tax overhaul bill Thursday. Every House Democratic member and 13 Republicans voted against the measure, but the bill passed with a 227-205 votes.

"[The bill] will nearly double the standard deduction, so the first $12,000 earned by an individual and $24,000 earned by a married couple is completely tax-free," said Simpson in a prepared statement following the vote. "It will also lower individual tax rates, significantly increase the child tax credit and create a new $300 tax credit for families caring for non-child dependents."

Members of the U.S. Senate is also working on a version of a tax overhaul, shackling their proposal to a repeal of major sections of Obamacare, but either bill will need approval from both the House and Senate before it has any chance of heading to President Donald Trump for his signature.

  • Sen. Al Franken (D-Minnesota) issued an apology Thursday after TV host/sports broadcaster/model Leeann Tweeden accused the then-comedian of kissing and groping her in 2006 during a USO tour of the Middle East. A photo surfaced Thursday showing Franken grabbing Tweeden's breasts while she was asleep on a plane.

"I respect women. I don't respect men who don't," wrote Franken in a formal apology. "And the fact that my own actions have given people a good reason to doubt that makes me feel ashamed."

Officials at the Boise Airport announced Thursday that, in anticipation of the busiest travel week of the year, they would reopen the Economic Parking Lot west of the airport Tuesday, Nov. 21-Thursday, Nov. 23 to alleviate high demand. Parking availability will be monitored throughout the holiday week and the time frame lengthened if necessary.

"Our 2017 passenger statistics are up 8 percent compared to this time in 2016," said Boise Airport Director Rebecca Hupp. "If we continue on this trend, we'll set a record for the most passengers to pass through the airport in one year." The economy lot is at Victory Road and Orchard Street and free shuttles are available for passengers. For more details on airport parking rates and facilities, click here.

  • The reviews of Justice League, which opens in thousands of movie theaters today, are out—and they aren't pretty. According to Vanity Fair, "Justice League is a big, ugly mess," according to Vanity Fair. The Guardian lays blame at the feet of Batman (Ben Affleck), saying, "Affleck spreads a pall of dullness over the film," which is "plainly stated, terrible, and I'm sorry that everyone wasted their time and money making it." IndieWire wasn't any kinder, stating, "As Justice League plods on autopilot, the Marvel movie parallels range from subtle to shameless."  Ouch!
