Yes, we know that Sunday, June 21, is the first day of summer solstice, but Memorial Day unofficially launches the summer season and there are plenty of indications that it's time to start shopping for sunscreen:

High school graduation season wraps with 10 major Treasure Valley commencement exercises this week. Boise High grads will pick up their diplomas Tuesday evening at Taco Bell Arena; Capital High follows on Wednesday evening, also at Taco Bell Arena; Timberline High walks on Thursday evening at Taco Bell Arena while the Meridian Academy and Central Academy grads will pick up their diplomas at the Centennial High auditorium; on Friday, Borah High seniors will graduate at Taco Bell Arena while Eagle Academy grads pick up diplomas at Centennial High auditorium and Renaissance High holds its graduation ceremony at Mountain View High. And the final grads of the season will walk this Saturday, May 30, as Centennial High, Eagle High and Meridian High all hold their respective graduation ceremonies at Taco Bell Arena.

As for all of the rest of the students in the Boise School District, the final day of classes will be Tuesday, June 2. The West Ada (formerly Meridian School District) will end its school year on Wednesday, June 3.

Boise Parks and Recreation will open the city's six municipal outdoor pools—Borah, Fairmont, Ivywild, Lowell, South, and the Natatorium—Tuesday, June 2.

Parks and Rec will organize youth summer playcamps in six neighborhood parks—Casia, Ivywild, Elm Grove, Julian, Sunset and Winstead—with different weekly themes, beginning Monday, June 8. The city has put together a nifty summer guide which you can access by clicking here.

The Grace Jordan, Morley Nelson and Whitney elementary schools' community centers will be open each weekday afternoon throughout the summer, offering supervised activities and snacks

The Idaho Foodbank will begin its Picnic in the Park program, offering feel meals to all children at city parks across the Treasure Valley, each Monday through Friday, beginning Monday, June 8.
