Re: “On The Level

Jihad, did you read what was printed? The article states that as a Mason during degree work you are asked to swear allegiance in the presence of God. If that Mason is an atheist then he just swore an oath to a God that he didn't actually believe in. This renders the oath that was given worthless and without meaning. If your word cannot be trusted then the rest of your actions cannot be trusted. The article never insinuated that by simply being an atheist you can't be trusted. But if a person were to, as an atheist, swear their allegiance before a God they don't believe in upon a volume of sacred law (religious text) that they don't believe or have faith in then you must be able to see how that person’s word would be questioned and trust would be lost in their future endeavors. Masons only ask that you have a belief in a one, true God. They don’t tell you what God you must believe in or what religion to practice. As the article states there are not only Christian Masons, but also Hindu, Sikh, Jewish, Islamic, and Mormon Masons. That seems like a fairly diverse group to me. Even if you and Freemasonry do not share the same views that is the beauty of living in a free society - everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs. I would suggest that you do a little home work before you make such a small minded and bigoted comment. I am not a Mason, but it was extremely easy to find information concerning Freemasonry from a variety of sources.
