Governor Appoints Kelly Anthon to Idaho Senate

Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter has picked a Magic Valley attorney to become the newest Republican member of the Idaho Senate.

Ruper lawyer Kelly Anthon will fill the vacancy in the State Senate left by former Sen. Dean Cameron, whom Otter tapped May 29 as his new Director of the Idaho Department of Insurance

"It is an honor to be appointed by Governor Otter to serve the community I love," said Anthon in a release issued by Otter's office.

Before his appointment, Anthon served as an attorney in Rupert, as well as Rupert's city administrator, president of the Burley Rotary Club, and on the boards of two area hospitals and two economic development organizations.

Anthon's extensive experience in the economic development, the legal profession and agriculture uniquely qualify him to represent the people of the Mini-Cassia area," said Otter in the same release.

Anthon was selected from nominees submitted to the governor by the District 27 Republican Legislative Committee, and will serve out the rest of Sen. Cameron's term which expires in 2016.
