Police Investigating Fatality Crash Near Firebird Raceway

State Highway 16 near Firebird Raceway was closed for four hours June 17 as Idaho State Police cleared a fatality car crash.

At approximately 5:45 p.m., ISP arrived on the scene of a two-vehicle crash at milepost 104 near the raceway, where a Honda Accord collided with a Jeep Wrangler. The collision caused the Jeep to catch fire, igniting a brush fire.

Jose Flores-Martinez, 52, of Emmett, was driving the Honda. His passenger, Goyo Ayllon, 34, of Emmett died of his injuries on the scene. In the Jeep were driver Thomas Weber III, 47, of Eagle, Thomas Weber, Jr., 70, of Ponte Vedra, Fla., and two juveniles. 

Flores-Martinez, Weber, Jr.; Weber III and the two juveniles were transported to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
