Preakedness/The Grand Ratking Release Parties

This is a good week for local music in Boise—and frequenters of Neurolux are standing in the eye of the sonic hurricane. On Friday, Feb. 22, and Saturday, Feb. 23, the 11th Street bar will host back-to-back release parties for two local bands: Preakedness, and The Grand Ratking. Billed by The Duck Club as a “synth syrup post-pop fever dream,” Preakedness will follow up its 2017 debut Total Electric Living (self-released) with a second record Feb. 22 in advance of its appearance at Treefort Music Fest. The group is a mishmash of members from other local bands—Devin McComas (Toy Zoo), Brian Anglin (Junior Rocket Scientist) and Nick Archibald (Andrew Sheppard Band)—are certainly worth a listen. The next night, Boise-based punk group The Grand Ratking will take the stage to celebrate the release of its debut EP Sigil Magick (self-released, 2019). “There are no seatbelts on this ride,” the band wrote on its Facebook page as a warning to listeners. “No safety net to catch your hurling descent toward earth. No sippy cup for your teetering drink so dangerously close to the edge.”
