Pussy Riot

Saturday, March 24, 11:25 p.m., El Korah Shrine

There have been a lot of acidic takes on President Donald Trump, but few of them have the PH balance of Russian feminist performance art collective Pussy Riot's music video, "Make America Great Again." Released days before the 2016 election, it tells the story of Nadya, who is arrested, branded with a hot iron, raped, subjected to unethical medical treatment and finally shot in the back by a cop. The images are disturbing and evocative. The music is poppy, but the lyrics are insistent and angry. The irony is so bitter it burns to the touch. After years of mastering the art of anger on Russian President Vladimir Putin, the group has shifted some of its gaze to Trump, and doesn't like what it sees. Don't miss this rare chance to check out one of the most controversial music groups on the planet, right here at home.
