Radio Loudness • Bouquet full of Different Flowers

Bouquet Full of Different Flowers

The Bouquet is getting back into the flow of downtown music. Local gadfly Travis Powell is the new booking manager and because hip-hop hits him where he lives, it's a safe bet the venue will host more out-of-town artists of that ilk. Local bands will play there as well and hopefully the lineup will be as varied as Boise performers themselves.

Through Friday, Dec. 19, catch psychedelic folk clan Hillfolk Noir, Thomas Paul, DJ Sir Realist, rock trio Radillac, Jeremiah James and DJ Dusty Britches. For dates and times, visit

On Saturday, Dec. 20, step into Josh Martinez's underground hip-hop world when he returns to Boise with a new album, The World Famous Sex Buffet. He'll be joined by his Chicharones partner-in-crime, Sleep. The show starts at 9 p.m. and cover is $6. Look for more on Martinez in the Dec. 17 issue of Boise Weekly.

Radio Loudness

Speaking of the Bouquet, Boise Community Radio held its third annual Practice New Year's Eve there last Friday. Cool silent auction items and cool but-really-loud live local music served as a reminder that BCR is alive and well online and everyone involved is still working tirelessly to secure a spot on the radio dial.

BCR music director and programming coordinator "Radioactive" Gavin Dahl sent a list of the station's top 30 new music spins, which I'll post online this week. For more information or to become a volunteer DJ, visit
