Relient K at Idaho Center tonight

Relient K may forever be associated with their catchy single "Be My Escape," but with the October's release of Forget And Not Slow Down, the band appears amped and ready for another big hit.

The album's main single, "Therapy," continues the harmonic tones the band has long been known for, infusing the track with a sense of angst and ultimately, redemption. The band has a knack—or curse depending on how you look at it—for turning melancholy lyrics into pop anthems. As lead singer Matt Thiessen laments the loss of a relationship and details the ways in which he's working through it, it's hard not to bounce your knees in the giddy fashion reminiscent of high-school days. The song will resonate with anyone left pining at a relationship's end, making it likely that the single will find success amongst the Twilight-salivating masses.

While "Therapy" may not reach the popularity and hysteria "Be My Escape" received, it's nonetheless a solid offering from this oft-mentioned band. See for yourself: Relient K plays the Idaho Center tonight as part of Toby Mac's Winter Wonder Slam Tour. Though the band is Christian in origin—in "Therapy," Thiessen sings, "You won't take my calls/that makes God the only one who's left here listening"—their music manages to straddle the fine line between religion and rocking, culminating in a sound as reliable as their four-wheeled namesake.
