RideOut Technologies Mountain Bike Seats

For a cozier caboose

Bike seats have come a long way since the wood-and-leather butt rests on velocipedes. Better materials like foam padding, plastic surfacing and aluminum frames have made them softer, but comfort is still a leading reason why some people are reluctant to hop on their bikes. One Boise company, RideOut Technologies, has taken up the challenge of designing mountain bike seats for even the most sensitive riders. RideOut uses leading-edge materials and university testing to design its saddles. Its new model, Challenger, features a flared, carbon fiber "crossbow" suspension for optimized support for tushes and sit bones. Weighing in at 385 grams, it's a perfect saddle for singletrack that won't leave your caboose feeling burned after a ride.
