Rio de Janeiro to host 2016 Olympics

The International Olympic Committee announced their choice of Rio de Janeiro to host the 2016 Olympics.

Chicagoans response to the decision is mixed, some happy that the Olympics won't add congestion to an already busy city, others disappointed to lose the sense of camaraderie, their place in history and, of course, the influx of cash the Olympics would have brought them. Chicago only received 18 of the possible 94 votes in the first-round poll.(Madrid and Tokyo were also shut out.)

The 2016 games will be the first time the Olympics have been held in South America, likely a big part of the IOC's decision.
