I am one of the Idaho Legal Aid Services attorneys quoted in this article. We greatly appreciate the Boise Weekly's thorough coverage of a complicated and urgent issue, one that many journalists would be daunted in approaching.

I am dismayed, however, over the following paragraph from the article:

“‘Moderate barriers’ is a way of reading a worthy-poor requirement into the program,” Eppink said, allowing the city to deny funds to deadbeats or the disabled, for example.

While the material within the quotation marks and attributed to me is definitely an accurate statement of the position of Idaho Legal Aid Services (ILAS) on behalf of its clients concerning a “moderate barriers” requirement within HPRP, the first part of the story’s comment following my quote (“allowing the city to deny funds to deadbeats”) is definitely NOT an accurate reflection of ILAS’s position or my statements concerning those whom HPRP should be streamlined to assist.
