I had no luck either with the new and improved Healthcare.gov site.

I am an uninsured laid off engineer with a household of five. I could not afford COBRA insurance and I am very nervous due to lack of Health Insurance for the family which includes a child who requires frequent surgeries. I cannot wait for Jan 1 when hopefully I can purchase reasonable price Health Insurance. Since mid October, I have spent over 20 hours on the Healtcare.gov site trying to complete my application and enrollment. First my application had duplicate family members, then it was locked, then I could not even login. I had to start a new application which got locked as well. I decided to be patient and wait for December 1.

On December 1, I was able to unlock my application by resetting my password. But now I cannot submit it. When I click on a Save and Continue and then a Green "Confirm" button, I get "Please Wait" message with a green revolving circle that would stay on my screen for hours until system will automatically log me out. I have tried this step over 20 times without any luck so far. Chat and phone support simply asked me to keep trying. Phone support person recommended 10 AM ET when traffic is low but for me even that time was no different.

This is very frustrating and I am extremely disappointed at the new and improved site.
