Re: “In Reverse

I am a person in the "Off Road" community and it makes me sad to see the misconception some people have of our community. Twice a year the off road club that I am a member of, go out and we do a road side clean up. I also have my young children do it with me so they can learn why throwing your empty coke can, or food container, or cigarette buts out the window of your vehical is so wrong! We are not out there to "ruin" the environment, we stay on the existing trails and if we see some trash (empty cans, bottles, shot up items) we pick it up, throw it in the back of our off road vehical and proceed on. If we see a injured animal, we call the appropriate authorities to make sure the animal doesnt just lay there suffering and die. I am also spending fun time with my kids and teaching them how to respect the enviroment and how to enjoy the outdoors. I am raising my kids to be responsible, how to obey the laws, and they are not out on the streets smoking, doing drugs, causing trouble at the malls or movie theaters, steeling, destroying someones property, etc. I personally think there are "bad apples". Look at the recent major league baseball report that lists all the players who used steroids. Or the professinal football players who have been arrested for DUI's, dog fighting rings, domestic violents, etc. Are you going to say that they arent the "bad apples" of their community? Yes, they are! But, they also have the great players who do care, and do help the community and DO make a difference. It is the same in our community, we have are share of "bad apples" but at least there are a few of us that DO want to make a difference and DO take action when it comes to keeping our enviroment clean. I can sleep peacefully at night knowing that I HAVE made a difference because I AM IN the off road community!
