Annual Trail Awareness Run coming fast

The deadline for the annual Trail Awareness Run is fast approaching, so anyone who wants to pound the trail through the Foothills better get moving.

Registration for the 7.75-mile race is due by Monday, June 1, and there will not be any day-of-race registration.

The event is an “awareness” run to support the Ridge to Rivers volunteer Trail Rangers program. All summer long, 10 volunteers patrol the Foothills trails teaching people about proper trail etiquette—like, keeping your dog under control; uphill riders have the right of way; don’t litter; don’t forge your own trail; etc … They also provide general trail information while they are out and about.

The race will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 6 at Camel's Back Park. The loop course follows the Red Fox No. 36 trail, Lower Hills Gulch No. 29, Crestline No. 28, Kestrel No. 39A, The Grove No. 38 and Gold Finch No. 35 trail. Three aid stations will be spread along the route.

Participation is limited to the first 125 registered racers, each of whom will receive a T-shirt. Results will be published in Boise Weekly after the race. Registration costs $15 and a registration form can be downloaded here, or picked up in person at Bandanna Running, 504 W. Main St., Shu’s Idaho Running Company, 1758 W. State St., or at Pulse Running, 3100 E. Florence Drive in Meridian.
