Saturday Night Fights and Arrests

Another Saturday night in downtown Boise. Another bar fight. Or two.

In our first case of inebriated mayhem, officers responded to a report of fisticuffs at a bar on the 100 block of North Eighth Street early Sept. 27.

Witnesses told police about a verbal altercation between two women. Word led to word led to the suspect picking up a beer bottle and allegedly smacking the other female upside the head.

Enter a Good Samaritan with breaking up the altercation on her mind. She also earned a bottle-thumping for her good intentions, according to police reports.

And our suspect earned a felony aggravated-battery charge. Luckily for all involved, nobody's injuries required transport to a local hospital.

Earlier the same night, officers responded to a fight report in the 100 block of Main Street. Witnesses told the cops that a man had punched another adult male in the face with his closed fist.

As officers attempted to take the suspect into custody, he evidently decided the fight wasn't out of him yet. A struggle ensued, and the suspect landed on top of one of the cops, breaking his leg. The injuries were extensive and may require surgery.

But the suspect caught a break in the case, even if the officer didn't. Charges filed against him after the melee—battery, resisting and obstructing officers—were both only misdemeanors.
