Saweet! • Metal Still Has Mettle • Fit for a King • Wear an orange vest

New Yorker Katie Sawicki is on tour supporting her newest release, For the Quiet and will be stopping in Boise to play Bourbon Street's intimate setting.

Sawicki has mastered the art of indie-folk on For the Quiet, blending lyrics and music to create songs that touch those who hear them and her singing/songwriting/strumming skills have garnered her well-deserved kudos and faithful fans. Apparently her live shows are a real treat, so don't miss this one.

June 27, $5, 8 p.m., with Kris Doty and John McMahon, Bourbon Street, 416 S. 9th St. (upstairs from the Big Easy), 367-1212

Metal Still Has Mettle

The Big Easy will host five bands intent on proving that new metal still kicks ass. The screaming vocals, machine-gun drums, dark, heavy guitars and wicked chord changes of If Hope Dies, Walls of Jericho, The Red Chord and All That Remains will set the stage for Unearth whose mix of old-school metal and here-and-now hardcore promise a head-bangingly great show.

June 26, $15, 7:30 p.m., The Big Easy, 416 S. 9th St., 367-1212
