Shameless plug: Recap of Boise Weekly Local Music Festival 2006

We weren't sure what to expect from our 2006 Boise Weekly Local Music Festival, so what a joy when the energy, the sound and the attendance far exceeded our expectations.

We started at Neurolux on Thursday night with Kris Doty, Kamphire Collective and DJ Art Hodge. Doty added drums to her set, which was a great backbeat for her ephemeral voice. Kamphire Collective got us out on the dance floor as expected, and DJ Hodge kept us there until the wee hours.

On Friday, we moved over to the Bouquet to listen to Brian Wilkinson, 12th of Never, Midline and Evologic. Wilkinson and friends played a really great set, 12th of Never rocked our socks off, Midline sounded better than ever and Evologic put on such a show that their amps could have been powered on the band's energy alone.

Last, but so not least, we finished off the weekend at Terrapin Station on Saturday night. Adison's Ghost played their melodic sounds beautifully, the PirkQlaters had the place jumping (read more about the Pirks in this week's Noise story on page 23), Jeremiah James and friends turned a few heads and made some new fans with their honky-tonk sound, and although we kept Rebecca Scott and Debbie Sager up late, their sound was as sweet and powerful as always, and they were the perfect end to a perfect weekend.

Special thanks to the fans who came out to the shows, all of the bands (without which none of this would have been possible); artist Erin Ruiz for such beautiful artwork (a small number of limited edition T-shirts and commemorative compilation CDs are available the Boise Weekly offices); bar-owners Allen, Erich, Lee and Jason, and all of their staff for providing outstanding service; the Boise Weekly staff for all of their help and support; and Boise Weekly Events Specialist Tyler Bush for making sure everyone knew what they were supposed to do and where and when to do it.
