Re: “Mato Woksape Fasts for Wolves at Idaho State Capitol

Mato, What tribal government/nation are you enrolled at?

It is not just the Colvilles as referrenced above, but also the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes in SE Idaho, have wolf permit in its hunting regulations, we respect the wolf, but also the deer and elk, which we use for subsistance under the Fort Bridger of 1868. Tread lightly and try not to speak for the Tribes because grandma always said, "don't let the white man talk for you when you can do it yourself." Those who glorify the wolf are more than likely urbanites and have never lived off the lands or been a real part of it. There is division but some agreement has to occur to balance the wolf against the animals it lives on. I have no real opposition to the "anti-wolf" initiative that you and others portray but to the use of Idle No More in doing so.

While the aboriginal Nations within Canada fight the oppression by the Harper government in human oppression and treaty abrogation and clear environmental degradation, we should be focused on the Keystone XL and the real reason of corporate greed in clear opposition to clean air, water and lands--in the states and in Canada. All 566 tribal governments in the US should be petitioning the Secretary of State and the Executive office, and pointing out the true issues of first Nations people in Canada and the real threats to the regional acquifers, air, lands and our life blood--our mother earth. That is the focus so think hard about the issues you raise about the wolf because you do not speak for the tribal nations--our elected leadership does.
