The Western Idaho Fair added something new this year: a 10-minute Sky Ride that lofts attendees over the roiling crowd lined up for The Zipper, Turbo and Mega Flip. But while the summer ski lift might be intended for people-watching, it's also the perfect spot to marvel at the fair's glorious spread of food booths.

County fairs are famous for hawking a selection of deep-fried delicacies, and the WIF is neck in neck with the best. Plus, in addition to the ubiquitous corn dogs, elephant ears, battered Oreos and funnel cakes, it has a few snacks that can't be found anywhere elseā€”the Ice Cream Potato, deep-fried Idaho Spud Bar and Delsa's ice cream spring to mind, and that's only the desserts.

For a look at some of this year's tastiest dishes, check out our slideshow below (and keep in mind, we only sampled a fraction of the available treats). Plus, if you haven't had a chance to chow down yet, never fear: The fair will run through Sunday, Aug. 26, so you have plenty of time to taste your way through.
