A Spokane-area man is behind bars this morning after leading Treasure Valley law enforcement officers on a car chase.

In the early afternoon of Nov. 27, witnesses near Boise Stage Stop reported an impaired driver to Idaho State Police. The vehicle—a 1993 Mercury Topaz—showed signs of damage indicating a possible recent collision.

Idaho State Police officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, driven by 33-year-old Joshua McNair of Spokane Valley, Wash., on I-84 near milepost 53, during which McNair fled the scene. Officers from the Ada County Sheriff's Office, Meridian Police Department, Nampa Police Department, Caldwell Police Department and the Canyon County Sheriff's Office worked to end the chase.

Near milepost 27, McNair rode over spike strips, lost control of his vehicle and crashed. Officers pinned the car to stop him from attempting to flee.

McNair is behind bars at Canyon County Jail. He is charged with felony eluding and is being investigated for driving under the influence.
